Renata Pokupić finished the Academy of Music in Zagreb and then continued to develop her singing with Prof. Eva Blahova.

Operatic engagements include Prinz Orlovsky in Fledermaus for Croatian National Theatre, Idamante Idomeneo for Opera Vlaanderen, Siebel Faust and Irene Tamerlano at Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Anna Les Troyens at Theatre du Chatelet, title role Cendrillon for Opéra de Lille, Dorabella Così fan tutte for Washington National Opera, and Nerone Agrippina in Sevilla (Teatro de la Maestranza), Antwerp, Lille and Dijon. She has also sung Cherubino for Washington National Opera, Opera Vlaanderen, Gulbenkian Lisbon, and Los Angeles Opera; Octavian Der Rosenkavalier for Minnesota Orchestra, Bradamante Orlando Furioso for Oper Frankfurt, Sesto La clemenza di Tito for Chicago Opera Theater, Annio La clemenza di Tito for Opéra de Lyon and the title role in Cavalli Eliogabalo at Grange Park Opera.

She has also sung Schubert Mass in E flat with Orchestre de Paris and Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, Haydn Scena di Berenice with Hofkapelle Esterházy, Handel Joshua with Handel Festival Göttingen, Nerone L’incoronazione di Poppea with the Academy of Ancient Music, Irene Theodora with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and title role of Handel’s Theodora with Gabrieli Consort & Players, Rossini and Respighi arias with Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Cecilio in Anfossi’s Lucio Silla at Mozarteum Salzburg with Le Cercle de l’Harmonie, Bruckner Mass in F minor with Orchestre de Paris, CPE Bach’s Magnificat, Mozart’s Masses and Schubert songs with the Insula Orchestra, Tirinto Imeneo with the Academy of Ancient Music, Mozart arias with Classical Opera and an extensive tour of ‘Tribute to Lorraine Hunt Lieberson’ with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. She regularly performs with Nash Ensemble at Wigmore Hall.

She sang Dejanira in Handel’s Hercules at London Handel Festival, Davide Penitente at Festival de Saint-Denis, St Matthew Passion with Rotterdam Philharmonic, Haydn Paukenmesse, Mozart Coronation Mass and Haydn Stabat Mater with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Mozart Requiem and Bach B-minor at the BBC Proms, and appeared in Le Concert d’Astrée’s 10th anniversary concert. She has also sung Alcina Orlando Furioso with Ensemble Matheus in Madrid, Beethoven Symphony No. 9 with Beethoven Orchester Bonn, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra, Mahler Symphony No. 2 with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Pulcinella with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Mozart and Rossini arias with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Haydn The Creation with Northern Sinfonia, Angel Elijah with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Bach Christmas Oratorio with Ensemble Matheus, and Pergolesi Stabat Mater with Les Talens Lyriques. Renata has appeared in concerts during the De Doelen Festival, Rotterdam, where she performed with Federico Maria Sardelli and Modo Antiquo in the world premiere of Vivaldi’s Montezuma. During the baroque festival in Beaune, she sang with Paul McCreesh and Gabrieli Consort & Players (Purcell’s Dido, Piacere / Il Trionfo), Antonio Florio and Capella della Pietá de’ Turchini, (Arsace / Partenope), Jeremy Rhorer and Le Cercle de l’Harmonie (Idamante / Idomeneo, Cherubino), Ottavio Dantone and Accademia Bizantina (Medoro / Orlando). She also performed during the Prague Spring and Wroclaw Festivals.

Renata works with such leading conductors as Paul McCreesh, Laurence Cummings, Kurt Masur, Kazushi Ono, Kent Nagano, Ingo Metzmacher, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Louis Langreé, Fabio Biondi, John Eliot Gardiner, William Christie, Jérémie Rhorer, Emmanuelle Haïm, Ian Page, Christophe Rousset, Carlo Rizzi, Jean-Christoph Spinosi, Laurence Equilbey and Christian Curnyn.
